  3. partial, so that literate people typically resist the telephone.

  5. imposing an inclusive order, as of an oral organization. Quite in 
  6. contrast is the centre-margin form of visual and written 
  7. structures of authority.

  9.      Many analysts have been misled by electric media because 
  10. of the seeming ability of these media to extend man‚Äôs spatial 
  11. powers of organization. Electric media, however, abolish the 
  12. spatial dimension, rather than enlarge it. By electricity, we 
  13. everywhere resume person-to-person relations as if on the 
  14. smallest village scale. It is a relation in depth, and without 
  15. delegation of functions or powers. The organic everywhere 
  16. supplants the mechanical. Dialogue supersedes the lecture. The
